ATTENTION: if the Mac has multiple users that need access to the EKG studies, it is necessary to install Schiller Link in a shared folder. The following must be done, taken from the Release Notes for V2.1.1
When trying to run Schiller Link in macOS the message "Schiller Link is damaged" might appear, and the software does not launch, only the option "Move to trash" is given.
In this case, it is necessary to run the following command from the Terminal to give Read/Write permission to the Schiller Link installation folder and all its subfolders:
- sudo xattr -c /Applications/SchillerLink.app
The Terminal can be accessed from Finder->Applications->Utilities->Terminal
Alternatively, right-click on the Schiller Link installation icon and select New Terminal Tab at Folder.
In the Terminal window type in the command and hit enter. After running the command it will ask for the user/admin password. When typing the user password in the terminal nothing is shown but the password is still being typed. Type the password and press enter to run the command.
TIP: sudo is the command that asks for the user (admin) password. If you do not have access to the admin password (the client does not give it to you), do not close the terminal after running the command to avoid having to ask the client to retype the admin password every time you need to run a command with sudo permissions.
If after running the command you are getting a permission error, it might be necessary to add the Terminal application to Full Disk Access under Settings -> Security & Privacy. Click the "+" button and type Terminal in the search bar to add the terminal app.
After doing this run the sudo xattr -c /Applications/SchillerLink.app command again. There is no confirmation that the command ran successfully, only a new line is created in the terminal. Try launching the Schiller Link application again. If the command works, it will be possible to configure Schiller Link.
Sometimes the above steps are only possible to accomplish from an administrator account. If other users need access to Schiller Link, the installation has to be done in a shared folder.
To accomplish this it might be necessary to turn on File Sharing first.
After running Schiller Link, choose or create a folder in the Shared folder. This is explained in the Schiller Link for Mac release notes.
So in this case you would create and choose to install Schiller Link in the folder SchillerLink-Import-Export inside the Shared folder
It is also necessary to give all users Read/Write permission to the Schiller Link folders. Right-click on the folders and select Get info.
Change all the user settings to Read/Write, click on the Lock icon, and log in with the admin password. Click on the three dots and select Applied to enclosed items...
Do this for the Schiller Link folder but also for the Schiller folder, the new Mac installation has two folders.
Then run the commands to update user folder permissions as stated on the release notes:
To avoid writing the first cd command, go to the Schiller->2.16.756.5.05.4.1.5 folder, right-click, and choose New Terminal Tab at Folder. Then you only have to run the chmod -R 777 * command.
Hidden Schillerlink icon in Task bar
Sometimes after opening Schillerlink the small icon does not show on the taskbar. The icon might be hidden in the task bar and some of the task bar icons need to be hidden so the Schillerlink icon appears on the task bar.
